The World Trade Organization ( WTO ) is an International Organization for the Performing of Business Activities . Its main office is in Geneva , Switzerland , and 164 member countries . It was founded on January 1, 1995 after the conventions of the eighth cycle of GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs & Trade). The decision to establish a WTO in the conference of the eighth round of GATT was decided. The main principle of GATT MFN (Most Favored Nation), the main principle of the WTO was created, due to which GAT's merger is considered in this institution. According to the MFN principle, if a country gives any concession to any country in the group then the concession is automatically received by other countries of the group. MFN does not apply in two cases: - (i) FTA / CECA, (ii) LDC - Least Developed Country.
